Starbucks operates a production location in the Port of Amsterdam. There, the company has run a large coffee roasting facility since 2003. It is the only one outside the United States. Millions of kilos of coffee beans reach the facility by vessel, packaged in large bags on pallets. After having been cleaned, roasted and quality checked, the beans are packaged and shipped to thousands of points of sale in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Starbucks is one of the largest coffeehouse chains in the world. The company was founded in 1973 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington State. Nowadays Starbucks has over 20,000 local stores in more than sixty countries.
