Rijkswaterstaat Zee en Delta (De Staat der Nederlanden)

Rijkswaterstaat Zee en Delta is part of Rijkswaterstaat (RWS). Its main task is to allow physical access to the Ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp. The organization ensures that North Sea transports have optimal connections to land and waterways. It also manages the various parts of the Delta Works, which protect the Netherlands from rising waters.

Rijkswaterstaat is the executive organization of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. It was established in 1789 for the national coordination of hydraulic engineering projects. Until then, they were carried out in a fragmented manner.
