Photanol is a young company, founded at the University of Amsterdam, which is working on a breakthrough platform to directly convert carbon dioxide (CO2) into valuable building blocks for new products. To make the breakthrough a commercial reality, the biotech startup seeks cooperation with upstream and downstream partners and technology suppliers.

Photanol has two pilot plants for the ambitious objective. Tests are taking place here in which various products are exposed to genetically modified cyanobacteria, under conditions comparable to a large-scale production facility. The aim is to determine which production bacteria are most suitable in such an environment.

In addition, Photanol is investigating different types of photo bioreactors to decide which ones are eligible for large-scale production.
