The municipal company Afvalservice West, collects household waste from the westerly district of Amsterdam as well as some other areas. The organization aims to make at least 65 percent of the collected waste reusable as raw material. This is mainly done by separately collecting plastics, paper, residual garbage and bulky waste.
Every year, Afvalservice West collects huge amounts of waste. In 2015 this added up to almost 54 million kilos, of which 43 million kilos of residual garbage. The company is committed to sustainability, including electric cars, a paperless office and investments in green energy.
