UPDATE: This is the salinisation overview for 30 September 2024.
Z5 value and clarification
The Z5 value in the North Sea Canal is currently 2834 mg/l, which is a decrease compared to last week.
The discharge Weesp (Q5) is currently 28,5 m3/s. The discharge Lobith (QLobith) is about 2311 m3/s. The water intake system (WIS) is 0 m3/s.
Expectations
There is a lot of rain expected in the coming days. Due to the diving operations in Ijmuiden there will be a ‘spui’ restriction at IJmuiden between 07:00 am and 07:00 pm. This restriction applies as long as the level can be sufficiently controlled.
Measures
The Z5 value has dropped significantly in recent days and a lot of rain is expected in the coming days. We are therefore abandoning the measure of optimised lock passages and we are going back to supply-driven lock passages. This will go into effect on Tuesday October 1, 2024 at 6 a.m.
Therefore we will also stop updating this salinisation overview. If the Z5 value will rise again to 3250 mg/l, the CNB and RWS-WNN will have a meeting regarding the salt intrusion and how to best monitor the situation. If that causes new measures, you will receive a new update about the situation.
