Introduction soot table for Amsterdam shipping to reduce pollution from ships. To this end, Article 4.1a has been included in the 2019 North Sea Canal Area Regional Port Bye-Laws. Omgevingsdienst IJmond monitors compliance.

The Regional Port Bye-Laws North Sea Canal Area 2019 are the "house rules" for the water in the entire area, from 1 kilometre off the coast of IJmuiden to the Orange locks in Amsterdam. Article 4.1a was recently included in these port regulations of this area. That article should limit pollution, nuisance and nuisance caused by ships. For soot emissions, the more severe the emissions, the shorter they may be. As a basis for supervision and enforcement, a soot table has been developed that compares the various types of emissions with their duration.

On behalf of the municipality, Omgevingsdienst IJmond (ODIJmond) supervises compliance with the regulations in the Port Bye-Laws. These are regulations relating to the environment, safety and planning. ODIJmond checks, for example, whether a ship is properly moored and can be entered safely. We also check whether work is carried out safely and whether it does not generate too much noise, for example at night.
