Vessels constrained by draft, breadth or lenght

When you want to pass the Noordersluis IJmuiden and/or want to sail on the North Sea Canal with a ship with the following dimensions you need to apply for an exemption:

  • Maximum breadth according to the International Tonnage Certificate > > 42,0m and ≤ 45,0m
  • Maximum draft > 13,10m and ≤13,75m (draught in S.W., eastbound)
  • Maximum draft > 13,40m and ≤ 14,05m (draught in F.W., westbound)
  • Maximum L.O.A. > 325,0m and ≤ 350,0m.

If the dimensions of the vessel are greater than the aforementioned, the vessel will not be allowed in the Noordersluis IJmuiden and/or the North Sea Canal. For more information see Basijn Policy Regulations for passing through the IJmuiden North Lock and the North Sea Canal with marginal ships.
